New Blog!

Hello and welcome to our Blog!

We have sold the pharmacy, purchased a camper van, bought some dirt coloured sheets and are ready to hit the road! We thought a blog was the easiest way to keep a recored of our adventure and share our experience with anyone who was interested.

We have just survived our maiden voyage with our new Goldstream (aka Goldie) van which is a pop top caravan. Having never (ever) towed anything before it was a good option, not too big and the set up not too arduous. We put it through it's paces traveling back from Pakenham (near Melbourne) to Blueys Beach over the past few days.  We went pretty well and learnt to laugh in the face of adversity. even on day one when we turned up to our first caravan park and were unable to actually unhitch the van off the tow ball!  Thankfully the caravanning community at Glen Cromie  Holiday Park near Drouin came to our rescue.  The owner of the park, Charlie, managed to unhitch our van with a crow bar!  Not a great start but a new tow ball has sorted out the issue.  We met some lovely people and have been blown away by the kindness of those staying around us, especially John and Lyne who were so kind to the boys.

We traveled back home via Seymour, Holbrook, Yass and Berry. Van went well and we survived the cold.  We thought our reverse cycle air conditioner would come to our rescue however after a call to the manufacturer we were informed that the heating will not work in very cold temperatures??! We are now wondering if the air con works in the heat - it remains to be seen! A huge thank you goes out to the Henry's in Berry for taking us in for the night, you saved my life/sanity with a hot shower and an electric blanket! Always great company too!

We are back home now for the next week to sort ourselves out and pack for the next six months.  Will be in touch again from the road!

Chippy, Jase, Charlie and Gil.

  1. Hilarious adventures already....!
Do hope the Aircon can be adjusted as we have a feeling you'll need it for these very cold nights. Maybe some of the Caravanning community can set it right for you. Feel sure you'll meet some Specialist jack-of-all-trades out there.
Hope the water on the roads isn't a problem at the start.
Love to you all and we're thinking of you.....Nini and GT
